v8.0.0 - Released - 15th September 2021
This version saw Limecube jump a full version due to a large improvement within Limecube for core functionality and 2 major new and exciting features!
Below are a list of release notes covering what is new and improved in this release. This was an update covering a variety of improvements in Limecube, new features, security updates, website speed improvements and some bug fixes.
AI Writer
We are very excited by the fact we are one of the first (if not the first) website builders on the market to incorporate an Artificial intelligence writer into our platform, making it super easy for Limecube users to get their website content written for them. We understand how challenging it can be for people to write content for their own websites, and with our AI Writer, this problem has now been solved. Our AI Writer is one of our most exciting features to date. By only including a few words as keywords or a short description, the AI Writer can write our whole landing page for you. So far results have been indistinguishable from that of a human writer.
Every site gets 3 free credits to try the tool out.
Another feature making Limecube websites fast and easy to build.
Colour Palette Tool
We are excited to release our first version of the Limecube colour palette tool. This allows new sites to easily choose from popular colour palettes, or create their own to change the colour theme of their entire site within 1 click.
For existing websites, the colour tool is still available, however as the site colours have already been set, there are a couple of extra steps that need to be taken to centralise the use of the colour palette tool.
Another feature making Limecube websites fast and easy to build.
General
- Banners now have an option when setting the main title to be plain text but still styled as a title. This is for SEOs to make sure that banner titles do not have the wrong tag set, and interfere with SEO.
- Logo upload has been restricted to purely web based image only files, to save confusion for users.
- When navigating between pages inside Limecube, the pages panel now closes automatically. This was a UX improvement as users found they rarely needed it open after the changed pages.
SEO & SEO Tool Improvements
- SEO Dashboard: We are really excited about this new SEO Dashboard, which is designed to give an overview of key areas of SEO that may be impacting performance. This is only version 1, and we intend to continue to expand what is included to give a health score and suggestions for improved SEO. Limecube are leaders in the website builder market in SEO. We have more SEO tools than all the major website builders, and make continued improvements focussed on keeping within Google's ever (and fast) changing guidelines for websites technical guidelines.
- LinkedIn no longer triggers an error in the Link Checker when the link is valid.
- The image element was improved with the schema.org image attribute.
- The html and xml sitemap home URL no longer includes /index, and instead points directly to the root domain. e.g. www.domain.com.au. Some SEO tools had triggered this as an issue, even though it had little impact on SEO. This solves 2 issues for SEO tools:
- Removal of a 301 redirect warning from /index to www.domain.com.au
- Removal of the warning there are no internal links to the home page.
Speed Improvements
These items below do not actually impact page speed very much, however they are items that Google's scoring system does look at, and provide lower scores for, unless dealt with in the way Google would like.
- Improvements were made for improved LCP (largest content paint) to banners which are mostly at the top of a page, to improve core web vitals scores. Banners are the most used elements on websites across the internet, but also something that Google's core web vitals scores were impacted by. We found a way to treat this and pass Google's scores for many instances.
- For improvements to Google's PageSpeed Insights (these only had very minor to no impact on SEO, but are simply part of our ongoing improvements):
- multiple JS and CSS files have been compressed and minified. While most were previously, some smaller files within Limecube had not been.
Header Editing
- There is a new button for light and dark style which works where a colour palette has been selected.
- Some settings have been moved from the style editor to here, making it easier to find/control header styling. These are:
- Transparency
- Fixed header
Footer Editing
- Footers can now have a background image inserted to them. This image becomes a site wide image.
- There is also a new button for light and dark style which works where a colour palette has been selected.
